Hello members and friends!
We have already made it to July – summer is flying by! Warmer days are now upon us and I hope you all have been able to get outside and enjoy some of the brief summer that we get here in MN. I know I have been trying to soak up as much as possible after the long winter this past year.
With summer weather comes the inevitable storm systems that can wreak havoc on insurance company’s results with claims, create headaches for agents in dealing with these claims, and be a nightmare for the innocent client on the other end of the claim. Across the country this year we have already seen weather claims hit the insurance industry hard – flooding across the Midwest, tornadoes tearing across the South, and ice and snow damage throughout the north during the winter. We are coming into the worst few months for storms in Minnesota, and I know many of us in the insurance industry are bracing themselves and hoping for a quiet storm year. I often find myself crossing my fingers that storms will bypass MN, and our results will not be impacted by hundreds of hail claims and wind damage to buildings. It is important to remember that while our results are important, what is more important is that we are there for clients when they need us most in the event of one of these storms hit our state. Here is hoping, for all of us, a quiet storm season.
We ended the 2019 CPCU year with 19 new designees. The new designee social will be held in early September, more details on that to come in the next few weeks. I look forward to meeting with and congratulating each of you in person at this event. This event is open to all CPCU members, so I encourage you to attend and congratulate the newest MN CPCU members as well.
Wishing you all a wonderful July filled with more sunshine that rain.
